Yet another case of the government telling you how to live. If renewable energy were competitive without subsidies there would be a massive conversion on its own without the need to steal from the taxpayers.

Our government in Wisconsin has a bad habit of taxing for something like this and putting the money in an entirely different place. Our state budget is so out of wack that they will take money from anywhere to pay for their pet projects.

These projects are a doubled edge sword as they do produce jobs but they are going to increase energy bills significantly in the future.
